Installing SEC Publisher

Warning: If SEC Publisher 5.5.0.70 or earlier is already installed, follow the steps in the ‘Uninstalling SEC Publisher’ section before installing a new version of SEC Publisher. If you have SEC Publisher 6 already installed, you can upgrade to a new version of SEC Publisher 6 and the installer will automatically uninstall the existing version before installing the new version.

Follow the steps below to install SEC Publisher:

  1. Once you receive the installation file, save it to your desktop (or in a convenient location you can access later).

  1. If you are installing the Dongle version of SEC Publisher, ensure that the Dongle is not currently plugged into the computer.

  1. Close all applications before starting the installation process, especially Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office applications.

  1. Go to the Task Manager and if ‘Acrobat.exe’ or ‘AdobeUpdater.exe’ are running in the Processes tab, end these processes before continuing with the installation.

  1. Go to your desktop (or wherever you saved the installation file) and double click on the installation file that you downloaded earlier in Step 1 to initiate the installation process.

  1. The default options are recommended, so just click Next for each dialog box (for the End-User License Agreement, you will need to check "I accept the terms in the License Agreement"), then click Install to begin the installation.

  1. If you are installing the Dongle version, after the SEC Publisher application has been installed, the Wibu Dongle driver is also installed (do not change any of the defaults). After the Wibu Dongle driver is installed, plug the Dongle into an available USB port and wait for the computer’s operating system to recognize the Dongle.

  1. Launch SEC Publisher 6 by clicking on the newly-created, blue icon on the desktop.

Licensing

If SEC Publisher 6 was previously installed and activated on this computer, the activation information is retained.  You can verify this by clicking on Help > Product Activation.

If SEC Publisher 6 was not previously installed on this computer and you just installed the Standard (non-Dongle) version, SEC Publisher will default to the "Eval" Mode (which disables the Filing Module). To activate SEC Publisher, please see 'Licensing and Upgrading SEC Publisher' to learn how to activate. If you are upgrading from a version of SEC Publisher prior to version 6, a new License Key or an Online Activation Code will be required.
